A Clue Saga

Int. Blackwell grange - Hall - dawn
The purple-orange glow of dawn fades through the rising fog outside the open front doors of Blackwell Grange. The stained glass window above the entrance creates colorful reflections on the floor.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY stands in the center of the hall, drawing the air of Blackwell Grange hungrily into his lungs. He stands alone listening to the silence as it rings in his ears.
INSP. PRY’s eyes make their way over to the key ring on the table in the center of the room. Ceremoniously, he walks over to the table and picks up the key ring.
INSP. PRY isolates the skeleton key from the rest of the keys. He takes a deep breath in as he proceeds towards the study door.
INSP. PRY puts the key into the lock and turns it.
CLICK.
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - STUDY - cONTINUOUS
INSP. PRY turns the handle and steps into the masculine den. He stares, unblinking, at the taxidermy jungle animals beside an upright sarcophagus. Something about their eyes makes him unnerved. The ticking of the clock on the large mahogany desk breaks the silence in his ears.
INSP. PRY walks around the desk and slowly seats himself down.
The air around INSP. PRY lightens. He lets out a sigh in relief -- a huge, happy sigh -- as if all of his grief and anguish were erased.
When INSP. PRY opens his eyes he sees two figures sitting in the chairs before the study's desk - a woman and a young boy.
MRS. CAROL PRY
"This should all be yours."
INSPector LAWRENCE PRY
(suddenly distraught)
"No!"
2.
MRS. CAROL PRY
"You've always had an appreciation for architecture. You'd lift this mansion from the dark, dusty shadows into glistening, gleaming splendor..."
INSP. PRY stands up, knocking over an obsidian obelisk on the desk. His imagination is playing tricks on him -- the figures are no longer there.
INSP. PRY rushes over to the study door and prepares to leave the room, but is stopped as he passes the wet bar.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
(whispering quickly)
"Not right now. Not now. Leave me alone."
INSP. PRY turns to face the wet bar. He opens the cabinet and grabs a bottle of vodka from the middle shelf. He drinks directly from the bottle.
DR. HUGH BLACK passes INSP. PRY like a ghostly omen of death.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"I only keep that shit around for guests. Keep the bottle."
INSP. PRY watches as DR. BLACK takes a seat behind his desk. INSP. PRY says nothing, but sits down in the chair across from the desk - beside the one his wife and son appeared in moments ago.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"You've been thinking about them ever since you heard the word Connecticut. You knew you were going to end up at Blackwell Grange one way or another."
DR. BLACK opens the bottom drawer of his desk and pulls out a small black journal. He pulls a rubber band off of it and opens it. He flips to a page where 'LAWRENCE PRY' is clearly written at the top.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"You still think I killed your wife and child, don't you."
INSP. PRY puts the vodka bottle to his lips and swallows a mouthful.
3.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"You need a someone to be your monster. Someone to undoubtable call the killer. Why not me? You've always called me a psychopath - a killer. So I must have sliced up that boy and sent you hands, feet, eyes..."
INSP. PRY is consumed with anger and frustration. He shakily drops the vodka bottle. It spills on the floor.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"I didn't kill your boy, Lawrence. And I didn't hang your wife. She killed herself because of who you turned into."
INSP. PRY picks up the vodka bottle and shakily takes another sip.
MRS. CAROL PRY
"Don't listen to him. He's just trying to get into your head."
MRS. PRY reaches for INSP. PRY from the chair beside INSP. PRY. Their son, ETHAN, sits on the floor playing with a toy train.

INSP. PRY closes his eyes.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"You are all in my head."
DR. BLACK laughs as he begins to write in the journal.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Check the lake for your sanity."
INSP. PRY focuses his attention at the study carpet between his feet. He refuses to look up at the hallucinations around him.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Are you even going to bother solving this murder? Or are you too caught up in your own things."
MRS. CAROL PRY
"Just stay with us a little longer. You know how you get around this place..."
4.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"A killer is on the loose, Pry. You aren't going to get anywhere talking to the ghosts of the past."
MR. CLAY stands at the study window, looking out towards the tennis courts.
MR. EDWARD CLAY
(crying)
"It doesn't make any sense. Why am I here?"
INSP. PRY chugs the remainder of the vodka bottle and stands up.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"I'm not doing this. Not today."
INSP. PRY walks to the study door and opens it.
ETHAN PRY
"Daddy? Please, don't go!"
INSP. PRY stops in the open doorway and hangs his head. He closes his eyes and turns around slowly.
INSP. PRY is about to open his eyes when -
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
(shouting)
"Inspector!"
DET. AMARILLO suddenly calls out from the open front doors of the hall. The rapid footsteps indicate that DET. AMARILLO has run straight from the car.
INSP. PRY looks ahead at the empty study before him. He is breathing erratically.
DET. AMARILLO enters the study and instantly smells the alcohol on INSP. PRY. He shrugs and walks further into the room.
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"What are you doing in here, man?"
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
(out of breath)
"I... uh."
5.
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"Had yourself a little drink? Did you at least put on gloves?"
INSP. PRY looks down at his bare hands.
DET. AMARILLO shakes his head in disappointment.
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"A couple of the boys from the station are going to have a look around with me."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
(trying to refocus)
"Did.. uh, did Commissioner Forest have anything to say?"
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"Didn't really get a chance to talk to him. He was more concerned about Frost and sending Moss with me."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"You brought Officer Moss and Frost with?"
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"I brought Moss. Frost has been here taking pictures."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"He's still here? I thought I was alone."
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"I'm sure he didn't catch you drinking."
INSP. PRY exits the study.
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - HALL - CONTINUOUS
INSP. PRY reaches into his pockets and pulls out a pair of latex gloves. He slips them on, glaring at DET. AMARILLO as he does.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"There's a pool of blood in the billiard room."
6.
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"You think that's where Hugh Black was killed?"
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"I'm going to have a look."
INSP. PRY heads off towards the billiard room.
DETECTIVE LOUIS AMARILLO
"Wait up!"
DET. AMARILLO follows quickly after INSP. PRY.
INT. DARK YELLOW CAB - DAWN
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN looks out the window as the sun rises over the horizon. The shadows of birch trees flicker through the car as it follows the procession of limousine's in front of it.
MADAME ROSE BLACK sits with her hands folding in her lap. Her eyelids are closed, but she is not sleeping. She clears her throat every few minutes.
INSPECTOR WINfiELD BroWN
"Are you alright, Rose?"
MADAME ROSE BLACK
(sighing)
"My legs start to cramp during long car rides."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"It is rather claustrophobic."
INSP. BROWN rolls down the window a tad, nodding at the CAB DRIVER as he does.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"How much longer until we are there?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"I'm not sure."
CAB DRIVER
"Less than half an hour."
7.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"I'm going to need a strong drink when we get there."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"I'm not sure the Pinecone Inn has a cocktail lounge."
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"I'm sure there's a local tavern."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"I'm going to head over to Aquatine Vistas and talk with Miss Snow. I won't be needing a room for as long as I planned, but I'd still like to conduct some interrogations there."
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"How has Lawrence been?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"You're a suspect in this. Let's not complicate things."
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"He stayed back at the mansion to investigate, didn't he?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(nodding)
"I'm afraid so."
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"He's going to go mad over this. You know that, don't you?"

INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"We've made it this long without talking. Can't we make it through the last half-hour in silence?"
MME ROSE closes her eyes and gets comfortable again.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(hesitantly)
"Unless, of course... you have some... psychic counsel."
8.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
(keeping her eyes closed)
"The time to take psychic advice has passed. No one took it seriously when it mattered."
INT. BURGUNDY LIMOUSINE - conTINUOUS
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET and MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK sit in the backseat of the limousine with puffy, red eyes, and mascara-stained cheeks. GREYSON, the chauffeur, keeps an eye on the two women through the rear-view mirror.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(softly)
"I remember the first time we kissed..."
MISS SCARLET is speaking in a coarse, broken voice through sniffles and tears. She stares out the window at the flickering shadows of the birch trees as she speaks.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"We were hiking in Vermillion Gardens."
It is unclear whether she is speaking to MRS. PEACOCK, GREYSON, or herself.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"We had planned on having a picnic in our favorite spot."
MISS SCARLET smiles a bit.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"I suppose I knew that day was going to be special from the start."
(sighing reminiscently)
"He brushed my hair back away from my face, looked into my eyes, and moved in."
MRS. PEACOCK smiles through tight lips.
MRS. PAtriciA PEACOCK
"He was a very charming man."
9.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(changing her tone)
"What was he like with you?"
MRS. PEACOCK turns to her with a look of confusion.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Oh, please. Are we really going to pretend like he wasn't fucking you behind the Senator's back?"
MRS. PEACOCK opens her mouth to speak, but she can't find anything to say.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"It was never behind my back, Patricia. I found out the very first time you two hooked up."
MRS. PEACOCK's face flushes red.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(to Greyson)
"Can you imagine? Your own stepmother spreading her legs to your lover?"
GREYSON
(on the spot)
"I can not imagine, ma'am."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"No, of course not."
MISS SCARLET rolls her eyes and continues to stare out the window.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Well, I-I-I don't know what to say. You've made this incredible awkward for me."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"I'm done lying for you, Patricia."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"What on earth is that supposed to mean?"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"It means, come the trial, I'm going to tell everyone exactly what I remember from the night Senator Peacock died.
10.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET (CONT'D)
Not the convoluted version we've been telling to cover up your affair."
MRS. PEACOCK laughs loudly, trying to cover up MISS SCARLET's voice.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
(to Greyson)
"We've all had a long night. Jesus, you wouldn't believe the types of crazy things we've been saying to each other. An hour ago, I could have sworn the feathers on my dress were turning purple."
MRS. PEACOCK laughs awkwardly.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(rolling her eyes)
"Whatever..."
GREYSON
"We're almost in Sun Haven. It shouldn't be too much further. I recognize this area."
GREYSON motions to the left of the road they are driving on. There is a massive, twisted dead oak tree with at least fifty wind chimes hanging from the branches.
MISS SCARLET watches the tree as they pass.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"What is that place?"
GREYSON
"The tree?"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Yes."
GREYSON
"This place we're passing through used to be a mining village. The mine collapsed about ten years ago and took so many workers with it. It was considered one of the worst accidents Connecticut has seen. Sweaty dynamite misplaced..."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I vaguely remember reading about that."
11.
GREYSON
"The family and friends of the victims made this dead, yet sturdy tree the monument to those lost lives. To remind them that beautiful melodies can still be sung even when life has stopped."
MISS SCARLET turns her head to catch the last glimpse of the tree before it is out of view around the road's bend.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"This place... Aquanetta Hotel?"
GREYSON
(politely correcting her)
"Aquatine Vistas."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Of course, how careless of me. What amenities does it offer?"
GREYSON
"There is a spa, a swimming pool, a smoking room with a billiard table and casino area."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Is there anywhere, that I might be able to find a drink?"
GREYSON
(smiling)
"We have a private lounge for guests of your caliber."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"That's what I like to hear. Is there a theater?"
GREYSON
"I'm afraid not. Aquatine Vistas may be grand, but it doesn't have everything."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"No matter, I'm sure Sun Haven has some entertainment to offer."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"This isn't a vacation..."
12.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I plan to use this time to heal my wounded spirit. We are both long overdue to some inner reflection. You said there was a spa?"
GREYSON
(nodding)
"Oh yes. Massages, hot rooms, cooling rooms..."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"And everything has been paid for by Sir Benedict?"
GREYSON
"You'll have to check with Sir Benedict."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Of course."
MISS SCARLET closes her eyes and tries to focus on the rumbling of the tires and road in order to drone out the yammering of MRS. PEACOCK.
INT. BLACK LIMOUSINE - CONTINUOUS
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV sits in the back seat alone. DR. ANDREA ORCHID and MASTER JOHN BODDY sit in the middle of the limousine opening a bottle of champagne sloppily.
SIR BENEDICT watches as DR. ORCHID pours champagne from the bottle directly into MASTER BODDY's mouth.
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"A match made in hell."
DR. ORCHID takes a long swig from the bottle before offering it to SIR BENEDICT.
SIR BENEDICT declines.
13.
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"I would like to keep my sobriety."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
(drinking more)
"Suit yourself."
MASTER BODDY lays down on the floor of the limousine.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"Christ, what a night."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Let's not talk about it."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Why not? Everyone is obsessing over it... reliving every moment over and over in their heads."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Because I'm drunk. I like to be happy when I'm drunk."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Have you told him?"
SIR BENEDICT glances at MASTER BODDY and then back to DR. ORCHID.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
(inhaling)
"Oh, Benedict. I thought I was going to like you more than Hugh."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"John, has your little fiancée told you the story about the first time we met?"
MASTER BODDY sits up from the floor of the limousine.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"I thought you said you just knew about my family. You said you didn't know them."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
(hesitating)
"I didn't really know him. I was a little girl."
SIR BENEDICT nods.
14.
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"I suppose that's a fair excuse."
MASTER BODDY grabs the champagne bottle away from DR. ORCHID and slams back what is left in the bottle.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(catching his breath)
"What the fuck are you two talking about?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
(to Dr. Orchid)
"I trust Lord Lavender raised you well? You'll blend into the high society of Aquatine Vistas?"
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Why? Do you have a job that needs to get done while we sit through this investigation?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"The police will find Klaus Gold responsible for the murders outside the mansion and Thallo Green responsible for the murders inside the mansion."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Is that what you think happened?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Does it matter? It's the easiest answer. That's all the police are looking for."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(losing his temper)
"You said you were an orphan."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"I was. Lord Lavender is dead, John. My stepmother wasn't as gracious as Mrs. Peacock has been to Miss Scarlet."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Lady Lavender's a bitch."
15.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"She isn't a bitch. She just knows what side she is on and has assigned everyone else the ranking of enemy."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"You lied to me, Andrea. What did you really want to see the will for?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Oh boy, here we go."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"To marry me and slit my throat in my sleep? Take everything out from under me?"
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Blackwell Grange is just a house, John. This isn't a throne we are fighting for."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"It is when you consider the assets."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"What is he talking about?"
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"I don't know. Uncle Hugh told me that we were broke."
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"In the eyes of the public, we're losing money. A steady, stable trickle of depleting funds expected to be gone before my lifetime is over."
Dr. ANDREA ORCHID
"That's not the case?"
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"What are you talking about?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"I have managed to keep Black-Gray Pharmaceuticals afloat and sustainable trapped in the attic with only the help of Mrs. White and Mr. Ash for half a decade."
16.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"They why are the shareholders dropping out?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"They aren't dropping out. They're dropping off."
DR. ORCHID looks over at the empty champagne bottle in MASTER BODDY's hands.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Mr. Masque isn't in Canada, is he?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
(firmly; roughly)
"Let's not get into all of that. John doesn't need to know every convoluted corner of this world."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Prince Azure and Lady Lavender will be at Dr. Black's funeral, won't they?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"They've been to every garden party for the past sixteen years."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Do they know you are alive?"
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"Lady Lavender knows. Prince Azure suspects it but I'm not so sure. I figured he was the one who sent Gold."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Gold and Azure are not allies."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"Why do you know all these people?"
MASTER BODDY grips the champagne bottle tightly.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"John..."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"No, I don't want to hear your lies."
17.
SIR BENEDICT BLACK IV
"I think you need to let the boy down easy before his rage gets out of hand."
DR. ORCHID sighs and looks down at her left hand. She pulls off the engagement ring and holds it out for MASTER BODDY.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"You are a sweet boy. Innocent, but full of anger. You need to meet someone that can understand your anger."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(sullen)
"Go fuck yourself."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"John, I don't want you to obsess over this."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(twisting the bottle)
"I don't care..."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"I used you. I'm sorry, but it's true. Everyone saw through it at dinner. I just needed to get back to Blackwell Grange."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(firmly)
"I don't care."
MASTER BODDY slams the champagne bottle against the carpeted floor of the limousine. It makes a loud-
THUD.
DR. ORCHID lowers her head and lets out a long sigh of relief.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
(to the chauffeur)
"How much further?"
CHAUFFEUR
"We're pulling up right now."
18.
INT. SILVER LIMOUSINE - CONTINUOUS
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD sits beside MR. REGINALD ASH in the middle of the limousine. NURSE AVA SILVER sits in the back with FIVEL asleep on her arm.
COL. MUSTARD mutters something to himself. MR. ASH hears what it is and glares at COL. MUSTARD angrily.
NURSE SILVER speaks softly, as to not wake FIVEL - who is fast asleep, breathing hard through his nose.
NURSE AVA SILVER
(whispering)
"What is it?"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"I just can't help but think..."
MR. REGINALD ASH
"Michael, don't!"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Bah! Never mind."
MR. REGINALD ASH
(changing the subject)
"Things are going to be different now that Dr. Black is dead. I'm going to get my wife back."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Certainly. I'll march straight up to Canada myself and bring her back. Ian Masque doesn't stand a bloody chance."
NURSE AVA SILVER
"And I'll find my son."
COL. MUSTARD grumbles to himself again.
19.
MR. REGINALD ASH
(to Mustard)
"No. Stop it."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Bloody hell! I can't stop thinking about it, Reggie!"
MR. REGINALD ASH
"Don't put that thought in her head, you bastard!"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"What if Fivel is the boy you had with Hugh? The conception story with Miss Dove was odd, if I'm allowed to comment on it."
NURSE SILVER shakes her head, disturbing FIVEL a little.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"No, no. That's wouldn't make sense."
FIVEL
(waking up)
"Mom?"
FIVEL then realizes where he is and remembers what has happened. He instantly begins to cry.
NURSE SILVER pulls FIVEL into her arms as he cries into her chest.
COL. MUSTARD looks away from the two as they embrace.
MR. REGINALD ASH
"We're pulling up to Aquatine Vistas, now."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"It's about time."
NURSE AVA SILVER
(soothing Fivel)
"It's going to be alright."
EXT. AQUATINE VISTAS - PORT COCHERE - CONTINUOUS
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM, DR. WALTER RAVEN, and MISS OLIVIA RAVEN step out of the dark green colored limousine.
20.
PROF. PLUM adjusts his glasses and looks up at the tall, towering hotel before them.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Well, here we are."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"The elevator better be working."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
(hurrying)
"Let's just get our room keys."
A white limousine pulls up as the dark green limousine pulls off. MR. THALLO GREEN, MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE, MRS. BLANCHE WHITE, and SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY step out and crane their necks up at the majestic hotel.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"You're gonna love this place, ma!"
MR. GREEN escorts MRS. WHITE by the arm.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"I gotta stop calling you that! You have a real son now."
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"You'll still always be the hungry boy in the kitchen tugging at my apron-strings."
SGT. GRAY is staring off at the ocean, a thousand miles away.
21.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Ben, you alright?"
SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY
(distantly)
"Don't call me that."
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Huh?"
SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY
"It's Benjamin. The Black's go by Ben."
SGT. GRAY dismisses M. BRUNETTE and walks off towards the beach.
M. BRUNETTE approaches MRS. WHITE and MR. GREEN.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Is he okay?"
MRS. WHITE watches SGT. GRAY walk to the edge of the beach and put his hands on his hips, staring out. The waves crash around his shoes, soaking through them.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"I'll go talk to him."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"You want me to come, too?"
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"No. I think I need to have some alone time with him."
MR. GREEN nods as he and M. BRUNETTE walk over to PROF. PLUM, DR. RAVEN, and MISS RAVEN.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"Who are we waiting on?"
They watch as MISS SCARLET and MRS. PEACOCK are let out of their limousine by GREYSON.
MRS. PEACOCK walks over to the group, while MISS SCARLET lingers behind with GREYSON and their luggage.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Thank you. The story about the tree... I don't know. It made me feel something. Hope I suppose.
22.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET (CONT'D)
I may have lost Edward, but the love I had for him is still alive. He will always stay alive inside of my heart. Just like my father has. I..."
GREYSON smiles and puts a hand on her shoulder.
GREYSON
"You're going to be okay, Miss."
GREYSON picks up the luggage and turns away from MISS SCARLET.
MISS SCARLET smiles and inhales a deep breath. GREYSON passes MRS. PEACOCK and puts his hand on her shoulder, too. MISS SCARLET exhales her breath into a frown.
GREYSON
"You're going to be okay, Ma'am."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Thank you, Greyson. I'll be sure to have Benedict give you a nice, big tip when I see him. Has Benedict gotten here yet? Has anyone see him?"
MR. THALLO GREEN
"I'm going to check inside the lobby, I think I see Colonel Mustard and Mr. Ash through the windows."
MR. GREEN peers through the glass windows around the gold-framed doors. He can see MR. ASH and COL. MUSTARD are talking to the hotel front desk clerk. NURSE SILVER stands with FIVEL by SIR BENEDICT and DR. ORCHID.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Yes, everyone is here. We are good to go."
(leading)
"Everyone! Let's proceed into the building! Two at a time, the doors are wide enough."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"What about Inspector Brown?"
MISS RAVEN ignores her father's procrastination and moves inside the hotel lobby.
23.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
(shrugging)
"He'll get here when he gets here."
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"He can take all the time in the world. I don't care to answer anything more about that crypt."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Everything I did was because of Hugh Black, was the song you were singing back at Blackwell Grange. I'd keep singing that song if you want to keep your nose clean."
M. BRUNETTE stands by as everyone else enters Aquatine Vistas. He watches MRS. WHITE and SGT. GRAY talking at the beach.
M. BRUNETTE contemplates going over to listen, but decides to follow MISS SCARLET and GREYSON into the hotel at the last second.
EXT. PINECONE INN - CONTINUous
MME ROSE and INSP. BROWN stand beside two neighboring motel room doors. MME ROSE peels off a strip of blistering green pain from the doorframe.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Now I understand what you meant when you said 'just the essentials'."
INSP. BROWN puts the key into the lock of his door and enters the dim, musky room. He drops his suitcase directly beside the doorframe.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"I wonder which one of us got the worst room?"
24.
MME ROSE opens her room and sneezes.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"Dust."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Mine is damp."
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"Trade?"
INSP. BROWN shrug and hands her his key. He picks up his suitcase and she hands him her key. They switch rooms and enter. Closing the doors in unison behind them.
INT. PINecone INN - MOTEL ROOM #301
MME ROSE sets her canvas bag down on the plastic lawn table underneath the window. She pulls out a small black pouch and empties the contents onto the bed - a pink rose-quartz pendulum on a gold chain.
MME ROSE holds out the pendulum with her right hand and places her left hand beneath it.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"Is my son okay?"
The pendulum swings left and right.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"Is he still seeing them?"
The pendulum swings back and forth.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"Does he know yet?"
The pendulum swings left and right.
MME ROSE quickly puts the pendulum back into the small black pouch and walks over to the window of her motel room.
MADAME ROSE BLACK
"I'm sorry, Lawrence."
EXT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - RoSE GARDEN - conTINUOUS
INSP. PRY stands in the center of the rose garden staring up at the overcast sky.
25.
The OFFICER FROST runs up to INSP. PRY out of breath and wide-eyed.
OFFICER THEODORE FROST
"We found her... in the lake..."
INSP. PRY snaps out of whatever trance he was in.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Slow down. What happened?"
OFFICER THEODORE FROST
"Frau Bloom. Moss and I just found her in the lake."
INSP. PRY rushes out of the rose garden with OFC. FROST behind him.
EXT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - DOCKS - CONTINUOUS
INSP. PRY rushes over to the edge of the lake near the boat docks. OFFICER MOSS is looking over FRAU BLOOM's body.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
