A Clue Saga

INT. DERELICT CABIN - GREAT ROOM - MIDNIGHT
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY slowly lifts his hands up, staring into the mouth of the double-barrel shotgun MISS BRENDA DOVE has pointed at his head. The woman's eyes are filled with fire and fear. Her finger lingers on the trigger.
‌INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"I'll make a deal with you."
MISS DOVE moves the SHOTGUN closer to INSP. PRY's face.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"I'm listening."

INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN looks over the remaining names on his notepad.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(to himself)
"Fivel Dove, Alphonse Brunette, Reginald Ash, Walter Raven, John Boddy, and Benjamin Gray."
INSP. BROWN closes his notepad and stands up from the desk he has been planted at all day. He stretches his back and flexes his shoulders. He sighs as he looks at the empty taupe-colored armchair. He opens the curtains and stares out at the dark, night sky and the black waves crashing on the sand.
The stars are shining brightly over the Connecticut oceanside. INSP. BROWN finds himself lost staring off into the brilliant freckles of the universe.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(to himself)
"It's strange. How one small detail is so important. One inconsistency begs so many questions. One innocent can go on with one questionable lie..."
INSP. BROWN flips through the notepad and goes over what he has read.
2.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(to himself)
"Knowing about the poison that Green gave to Plum is one thing... But who knew about the photographs? Who knew about Monte Carlo? Who knew about the secret passageways? Why did Dr. Black invite those specific people?"
INSP. BROWN sighs deeply.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"The school teacher... The homicidal maniac... The old will and the new will..."
INSP. BROWN hears the loud clang of a bell on a buoy. It brings INSP. BROWN's eyes from the stars to the shore.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
(to himself)
"I hope I'm wrong... but I know I'm not. She really did kill those people... and all with Miss Dove's help. But neither of them killed Dr. Black... neither of them would kill the man they were trying to frame."

MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK is quite drunk and alone at the bar.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Bartender, one more. No lime this time!"
The BARTENDER rolls his eyes as he pours MRS. PEACOCK another margarita.
A bald, black woman with a stern, serious face approaches. She takes one look at MRS. PEACOCK and sits on the barstool beside her.
WOMAN
"I'll have a vodka-tonic."
BARTENDER
"Right away, your Honor."
3.
MRS. PEACOCK watches the WOMAN intently, sipping her margarita slowly. The bartender mixes a drink quickly and sets it before the WOMAN."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Your Honor? My, my! Am I in the presence of the law?"
The WOMAN smiles and turns to MRS. PEACOCK with an open hand.
WOMAN
"Ruth Mauve. I'm a judge, yes."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Judge Mauve, it is a pleasure. I am Patricia Pea..."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I know who you are, Mrs. Peacock. It's a pleasure meeting you."
MRS. PEACOCK shakes JUDGE MAUVE's hand firmly. She feels a slight squeeze back from JUDGE MAUVE.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Likewise."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I understand you are being still being hassled by the D.C. courts."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
(sighing)
"My track record screams stronger than my innocence."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"The public is dying to see you convicted. They don't care what it takes. Even the D.A. wants to see you put to justice. Senator Peacock was well-loved by both parties. He had a true sense of equality for the people. Federal debts, infrastructure, medical, agricultural... all of it would have been improved and changed under his power. Some think he could have even been the President of the United States."
4.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I'm not guilty and I won't admit to anything I didn't do. I've lived a long, hard life. I'm not going to make it any harder by accepting charges that aren't mine."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"Then the stories they are pushing are unacceptable. They have made you out to be the bad guy in every newspaper from California to New York City."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I am well-aware. Why else do you think I'm hiding back here in the private lounge"
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I'd like to talk to you... professionally, in my suite, if you'd like."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Oh?"
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"One word from me and you could be exonerated as early as tomorrow afternoon."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Then what's stopping you?"
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I want to get to know the real you. The woman behind the Senator."
MRS. PEACOCK turns to JUDGE MAUVE and narrows her eyes.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Dear woman, are you flirting with me?"
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"So what if I am? Are you in a position to turn down an easy way out of a long, painful trial?"
MRS. PEACOCK smiles and places her hand over her chest.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I'm flattered really, but..."
5.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
(bored with Peacock)
"Fine. Suit yourself."
JUDGE MAUVE stands up from the barstool, looking around the room. She spots a young blonde girl in a tight blue dress and begins to walk towards her.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
(speaking up)
"On second thought..."
JUDGE MAUVE turns back to MRS. PEACOCK. The two women lock eyes as JUDGE MAUVE quickly finishes her drink. MRS. PEACOCK sucks down her margarita in nervous anticipation.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I'll lead the way."
JUDGE MAUVE offers a hand to MRS. PEACOCK.
MRS. PEACOCK slowly takes it and is lead towards the exit of the HOTEL LOUNGE.

NURSE AVA SILVER stands over FIVEL DOVE as he sleeps peacefully on the bed.
NURSE SILVER gently runs her fingers through the blond curls laying messily on his pillow.
NURSE SILVER's eyes well up with tears and she begins to cry. FIVEL sits up in bed, woken by her sniffling.
FIVEL
"What's wrong?"
NURSE AVA SILVER
"I'm just so sad..."
FIVEL
"Why?"
NURSE AVA SILVER
"All those people... I-I just can't even see myself returning to Blackwell Grange. I've tried playing out the story in my head over and over again...

NURSE AVA SILVER
"Fivel, look at me."
NURSE SILVER takes FIVEL's face in her hands and brings his eyes to hers.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"I'm never going to let anything happen to you. If it is true and Dr. Olive says that I am your mother, I am going to do whatever I can to take you away from this horrible place - the nightmares we've all lived through."
FIVEL
(sadly)
"I just want a normal life. No more lies, plans, or stories I have to remember."
NURSE AVA SILVER
"Then we'll find that life and never look back."
NURSE SILVER hugs FIVEL tightly, pulling his head against her shoulder.

DR. WALTER RAVEN sits up awake in the armchair near the window. He is holding a nearly empty glass of gin. His eyes are wide and his lips are tight. He brings the final sip to his mouth and swallows it with a grimace. He shakes his head angrily and leans forward, setting the glass on the edge of the desk as he does.
DR. RAVEN gives a deep, labored sigh as he stands up from his chair. He checks his pocket watch and begins to undo his bowtie and undershirt.
As DR. RAVEN takes off his undershirt - big deep, red and pink scars are revealed all over his fat, bulging torso.
7.
DR. RAVEN unscrews the metal lid from a glass jar of a cream-colored salve. He slowly begins to coat his old scars with the ointment.
FLASHBACK - BLACKWELL GRANGE - THE DINNER PARTy
INT. LIBRARY - NIGHT
DR. HUGH BLACK leads DR. WALTER RAVEN into the LIBRARY and closes the door loudly.
DR. HUGH BLACK
(annoyed)
"What is it that you need right this second that cannot wait another minute?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Well, it is partially about the money."
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Dr. Raven, I made it perfectly clear in the last letter we exchanged. You will be paid in by full by the garden party."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"The garden party is only a few weeks away. If you don't have the money tonight, why should I believe you will have it then?"
DR. HUGH BLACK
"You are just going to have to take it on faith. Now, if there isn't anything else - I have to deal with my nephew and the woman he has brought into my house!"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"There is one other thing."
DR. HUGH BLACK
"What?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"The photographs from Monte Carlo. Someone has them."
8.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Where did you hear this?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"It came all the way up from Mr. Green. It appears we may have trouble moving in from Africa."
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Prince Azure doesn't know anything. His obsession with my sister, Margaret, has lead him to hate me, but he doesn't know about Monte Carlo."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Lord Gray certainly does. And I'm not the first to tell you of his questionable loyalty."
DR. BLACK grips the head of the STATUETTE, holding back his building anger.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Is that all?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Yes, I suppose that is all. But if those pictures turn up... I-If I am going down, I-I am not going down alone."
DR. BLACK grinds his teeth, staring into DR. RAVEN's eyes.

INT. AQUATINE VISTAS - HOTEL ROOM #702 - MORNING
INSP. BROWN lets MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE into the HOTEL ROOM. It is clear INSP. BROWN didn't sleep at all last night - as evident by the untouched bed.
9.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Are we going to handle this formally, or can I be casual?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Let's stick to the formalities as long as possible."
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
(chuckling)
"Fine. You're the boss."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"I've got a fairly good timeline of the night of the murder. I need to know if your movements are going to align with what I already know. Let's start with your search with Mr. Ash and Sergeant Gray for Frau Bloom."
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"We went out to the swimming pool where Mrs. White found her. She wasn't there. On the way back inside, we ran into Dr. Black and Dr. Raven. They were fighting about something."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Did you catch what it was?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Only that it had to do with money and something about the annual garden party."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Go on, what happened next?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Sergeant Gray and I searched the servant's quarters. We thought maybe she slipped and fell into the swimming pool and Mrs. White had thought the woman was dead. We thought maybe she was changing out of her wet clothes."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"It was this search for Frau Bloom that lead you to the boat house to Professor Plum."
10.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"We was trying to open the door but it was locked. That's when we saw Nurse Silver on the ground. I ran over to her as quickly as I could to see if she was still alive."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Was she conscious?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"She was just coming to as I got to her. She kept screaming that it was Dr. Black. She was hysterical and we couldn't calm her down. Then she pointed into the darkness behind us... showed us what we really needed to be afraid of."
M. BRUNETTE's eyes quickly fill with tears.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"I held onto all the strength I had not to fall to my knees when I saw him hanging up on that tennis net. My boy... my son... dead, eyeless, and strung up like a scarecrow. What kind of monster does that to someone?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"While you waited for us to arrive, did you wait in the ballroom?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"For a while, but I had to clear my head. I went to the kitchen... that's when I heard..."
M. BRUNETTE's voice trails off.
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"What did you hear?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"At first I thought it was just Mrs. White alone. She was coming from the cellar. But then I heard Dr. Black's voice too."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Mrs. White is the one who let him out?"
11.
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"They were arguing the entire way up the staircase."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"About what?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"She kept saying things like you don't deserve my help and I'm not going to let you die down there."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Anything from Dr. Black?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Nothing audible."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Thank you, Alphonse. And if I may be frank?"
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Of course? I thought the formality of our meeting was stupid, anyway."
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"We have made a few arrests and are planning on making a few more tonight in the hotel restaurant when I go over my findings with everyone. I would advise you be gone shortly after the killer is brought to light."
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Why are you telling me this?"
INSPECTOR WINFIELD BROWN
"Because at the end of the day, you are still my brother. I never did anything right by you when you were a kid and I sure as hell can't do much for you now. You need to be gone before the will is read. You need to clean yourself up and start fresh somewhere that people don't know you."
MONSIEUR ALPHONSE BRUNETTE
"Thank you, Winfield. I'll keep that in mind."

MRS. PEACOCK wakes up in her bed beside JUDGE MAUVE, who is still fast asleep.
MRS. PEACOCK sits forward in bed, pulling the sheet close to her bare chest. She looks over at JUDGE MAUVE and lets out a tense whimper of regret and anxiousness.
JUDGE MAUVE shifts in bed and opens her eyes slowly.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"Good morning."
MRS. PEACOCK smiles politely but says nothing.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"You're quite an animal, aren't you?"
JUDGE MAUVE moves her hands under the sheets to MRS. PEACOCK's thighs. MRS. PEACOCK tenses up and JUDGE MAUVE pulls her hand back.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"You good?"
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I'm just trying to remember when everything stopped being easy."
JUDGE MAUVE lays back in the bed sighing.
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"You go down that rabbit hole, you'll never come back up."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I feel like it was in my early twenties. I had everything I wanted. Men, money, talent, beauty."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"You still have beauty."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK

MRS. PEACOCK turns to JUDGE MAUVE and takes her hands tightly into her own.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Are you going to help me? Or was this all a ruse to get me into bed?"
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
"I'm going to help you, Patricia. I'm a woman of my word."
There is a knock at her bedroom door.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Oh shit! It's my stepdaughter, Vivienne."
JUDGE MAUVE rolls over casually like she doesn't care.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"You have to get up."
JUDGE RUTH MAUVE
(closing her eyes)
"I don't have to do shit."
JUDGE MAUVE lays down fully prepared to go back to sleep.
MRS. PEACOCK stands up and quickly throws on a blue nightgown. She rushes over to the door and opens it a tiny bit.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET appears through the crack in the doorway. She raises an eyebrow, trying to look into the room to see if GREYSON is in there with her.

MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Vivienne, can you give me fifteen minutes to freshen up?"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET

DR. ANDREA ORCHID paces around the lobby examining the tapestries, paintings, and marble sculptures that decorate the walls, corners, and entry-points.
She lingers near the armchair with the telephone table, keeping a constant eye on it.
DR. ORCHID casually sits down in the armchair, keeping an eye on HOLLY who is busily sorting through papers at the front desk.
‌The telephone suddenly rings. DR. ORCHID snatches it up quickly before the first ring can conclude.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Hello?"
(short pause)
"Sir Benedict is planning on killing John."
(long pause)
"He told me the only reason he is fighting for John to own Blackwell Grange is so that John can fill out the will the way Benedict wants it."
(short pause)
"I don't know. I suppose he's correcting the mistakes he made when his will was read."
(long pause)
"I'm still keeping an eye on Colonel Mustard, Mr. Green, Monsieur Brunette, and Miss Scarlet."
(short pause)
"I must cut off now."
DR. ORCHID prematurely hangs up the telephone as MASTER JOHN BODDY approaches her from across the LOBBY.
15.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"When we met, I thought you were the most beautiful woman I had ever seen."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"John... now isn't the time."
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(assertively)
"No, it is. You are going to listen to me."
DR. ORCHID closes her eyes with a sigh.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"What?"
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"You used me to get to Blackwell Grange. What I don't understand is why you would take any interest in me. Were none of those nights real? Did none of the things we talked about mean anything to you?"
MASTER BODDY's eyes fill with tears.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"I told you all about my parents. I told you about my uncle... my grandfather... I told you everything because I thought I could trust you."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"You can't trust anyone, John. You are a young, rich, naïve little brat. Everyone you meet is going to use you. You will never meet anyone who sees you for who you genuinely are. You're just not interesting enough to attract the type of people who care. Sure you'll fuck a few girls good and they'll think they are in love, but they aren't. They'll get bored. There's always something bigger and better out there."
MASTER BODDY grips his fists tightly.
16.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"I never want to see you again. Stay away from Blackwell Grange."
MASTER BODDY turns away in a dash of blind rage. He runs full speed around the corner towards the HOTEL CLOAK ROOM where he smashes into COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD.
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Watch where the hell you are going!"
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"Fuck off, old man!"
COL. MUSTARD strikes the boy across the face.
MASTER BODDY holds the side of his face in shock.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
"I'll fucking kill you!"
Within a second, MASTER BODDY leaps on COL. MUSTARD and begins to strangle the old man.
COL. MUSTARD slams his weight forward against the doorway, knocking MASTER BODDY's spine against it.
MASTER BODDY lets go of COL. MUSTARD's throat and falls to the ground.
DR. ORCHID, HOLLY, and GREYSON have made their way over to the commotion.
‌COL. MUSTARD turns to MASTER BODDY and begins to kick the boy while he's on the ground.
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"I'm sick and tired of your attitude. Every time we are alone... fight on sight!"
GREYSON grabs COL. MUSTARD by the shoulders and pulls him away from MASTER BODDY.
GREYSON
(shouting)
"Get off of him! Stop it!"
17.
HOLLY
"You're hurting him!"
DR. ORCHID crouches down to help MASTER BODDY up.
MASTER JOHN BODDY
(pushing Orchid away)
"Get away from me! I don't need your help! I don't need any of you!"
MASTER BODDY stands up on his own and storms away towards the PRIVATE LOUNGE.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
(to Mustard)
"You mind telling me what the hell that was all about?"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"John and I... we have a very strong disagreement."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Over?"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Over how I handled things when searching for his parents."
DR. ORCHID looks over at HOLLY and GREYSON, dismissing them.
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"Go on..."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"I really don't feel like being interrogated by you as well. I've had enough with Brown."
DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"I have a curious mind. It is thirsty for knowledge. I can make it worth your while."
DR. ORCHID runs a hand seductively down COL. MUSTARD's chest.
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"There isn't much to say. I called off the search because we lost their trail. Hugh and John wanted me to keep searching. We were out there for a week when their trail went cold.

DR. ANDREA ORCHID
"And John never forgave you?"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"John has a habit of holding a grudge. You'll find that out soon enough."
The HOTEL LOBBY's front doors open and MADAME ROSE BLACK enters with a large canvas bag. A crystal ball can be see at the top of the bag.

MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Can you? I'm not sure even you could figure out a lie to cover up what I did. I needed Hugh Black to be alive for that."
MISS DOVE lowers the SHOTGUN and begins to pace the room.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Yvette told me about the photographs that she found. I looked at them..."
MISS DOVE turns up her nose in disgust.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"I don't know how anyone could find enjoyment doing what I had to force myself to do."
(pausing)
"Frau Bloom planted the photos. Trying to stir the beehive... I thought let's take it one step higher. Hugh could lie again and say his father committed the murders in the photos. He would have paid the lawyers and judges and they would have sent him home. I had Yvette poison Frau Bloom."
INSP. PRY keeps his eye on the lowered SHOTGUN.

INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Why could you just let her be the only one? You could have pinned her to the tennis net and saved Mr. Clay's life!"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"I needed to be dead. I need everyone to think that I am dead. No one can know I'm still alive. Especially not my mother."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Your mother?"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"She's the one who planned all of this. Arranged for me to marry Hugh... arranged for me to adopt Fivel... she's been planning on taking down Blackwell Grange for so long. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason she raised me was to be a pawn in her game..."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Who is your mother?"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Dear cousin, don't you know?"
INSP. PRY doesn't answer.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"The hardest part about pretending to marry my own uncle was avoiding having to have sex with him."
21.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"So where does this leave us?"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Miss Raven will take the fall for the murders in my place. My accomplice will either be caught, or she will get away with it. That much is out of my hands."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"And who is your accomplice?"
MISS DOVE smirks, shaking her head no.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Then I suppose I only have one question left."
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Oh?"
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Who the hell killed Hugh Black?"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"I wish I knew so I could kill the bastard who fucked everything up for us. Hugh would have taken the fall for those murders if he wasn't dead."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
(nodding)
"He certainly would have."
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Whoever killed Hugh was thinking on their own or acting on impulse."
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Any suggestions? You know them better than I do."
MISS BRENDA DOVE

INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"And now?"

MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Go back to Blackwell Grange. Don't come back here. I can't risk anyone following you."
INSP. PRY nods and slowly makes his way to the door.
INSPECTOR LAWRENCE PRY
"Miss Dove, thank you."
INT. DAILY ECHO - OFFICE - AFTERNOON
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST enters the busy newspaper office with an angry look on his face. He is carrying a newspaper under his arm. MS. KIMBERLY MANGO stands up from where she sits at a typewriter.
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST
"I just read the morning's headline."
MS. MANGO stares at him with unblinking eyes.
COMMISSIONER FOREST drops the newspaper on the desk in front of her.
The headline reads: MURDER AT BLACKWELL GRANGE.
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST
"I thought we had an understanding."
MS. KIMBERLY MANGO
"Commissioner, you misunderstood the reason for my visit yesterday. When I accepted the bribe and held off on publishing the story, it wasn't exactly a genuine deal."
COMM. FOREST looks around at the other workers who have circled around him and MS. MANGO. Arms are folded and faces are angry.
MS. KIMBERLY MANGO
"I'm trying to bring Blackwell Grange to ashes. Every secret, every lie will be unearthed."
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST
"Watch yourself, girl."
23.
MS. KIMBERLY MANGO
"No, Commissioner. You watch yourself. The fact that you bribed me to protect a criminal family does not hold well for you either."
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST
"It's not worth it. Trying to stop them. That place... those people. They won't let you ruin their lives. Your name is on this paper. They are going to want your head."
Ms. KIMBERLY MANGO
"Then the feeling is mutual. My grandmother worked there years ago, did you know that? She was the nanny. Alice Blue. She was murdered brutally by Ben Black and he never faced justice."
COMMISSIONER RANDALL FOREST
"Ben Black is dead."
Ms. KIMBERLY MANGO
"I know. I was relieved with so much joy when I learned that. But it won't stop the wrecking ball that I drop on them. No stone will go unturned - from the rusted out car in the gorge, to whatever is at the bottom of the old well-house, to whoever is living in the cabin beyond the lake."
