A Clue Saga

INT. TRAIN - PRIVATE COMPARTMENT - EARLY EVENING
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK, MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET, and MR. EDWARD CLAY soar past the Connecticut countryside. MISS SCARLET has succumbed to boredom and is staring out the windows at the forests, rivers, and fields. MRS. PEACOCK is in the middle of a long-winded speech about proper etiquette. MR. CLAY listens politely, as it is obvious MISS SCARLET is ignoring her.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
(coaching)
"... and remember to leave the linens to the right of your bedroom door for Mrs. White or Mr. Ash. There is a small table in the upstairs hallway beside each door. You'll place the linens to the right of the table. Clean ones will be picked up on the left side."
MR. EDWARD CLAY
"Are these people really sticklers for rules?"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(snidely)
"Of course not. They probably don't care one way of the other. Patricia is just stuck with the mindset of mimicking a routine from twenty years ago."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
(enraged)
"You are going to call me Mother or Stepmother and show me respect while we are at Blackwell Grange. I won't have any more of those embarrassing little outbursts you can't control."
2.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(mockingly)
"Darling Stepmother, are you going to limit your drinking, as to avoid any other embarrassing outbursts?"
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"What are you even talking about?"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"That whole business with the unpleasant man on the train platform... I suppose that incident never happened?"
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"As far as I am concerned, I taught Mr. Limabeans or whatever-his-name-is a thing or two about social structure and where he stands in the eyes of the rich. He might have more confidence next time when facing someone better than him."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Why does someone always have to be better than someone else?"
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Because that's just the way things are."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Things can change."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"Yes, but they won't."
MISS SCARLET lights a cigarette.
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I told you I didn't want you smoking those things!"
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(rolling her eyes)
"Again with this?"
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"I don't like it."
3.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Come, Edward. Let's see if this train has a lounge car. I could use a drink and some decent company."
MRS. PATRICIA PEACOCK
"There will be plenty of drinks and plenty of company at Blackwell Grange. Put out the cigarette and sit."
MISS SCARLET continues out of the private compartment. MR. CLAY shrugs and follows her out.
MRS. PEACOCK drops her jaw in shock at their blatant disobedience. She bites her lip angrily as she is left alone.
INT. TRAIN - FIRST CLASS HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
MISS SCARLET flicks her partially smoked cigarette out the window with a laugh. MR. CLAY shakes his head with a smile.
MR. EDWARD CLAY
"You didn't even want to smoke."
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(smiling)
"Nope. I just wanted her to shut up."
MR. CLAY checks to make sure they are out of sight. MISS SCARLET continues walking down the hallway, until-
MR. CLAY grabs MISS SCARLET and pushes her up against the wall. He grabs at her hips and waist, lifting up her dress and putting his hands down her underpants. MISS SCARLET moans in delight as his strong hands swim around beneath them.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(moaning)
"Oh, Edward..."
MISS SCARLET leans forward, kissing him.
4.
MR. CLAY returns the kiss with hungry lips.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
(giggling)
"What if someone sees? We could go somewhere more private..."
MR. EDWARD CLAY
(hushing her)
"Just enjoy the spontaneous pleasures life can offer."
MR. CLAY lowers himself down and begins to move himself under her dress.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Edward, stop!"
MISS SCARLET swats at him and points ahead.
MR. CLAY stands up and looks to where she is pointing.
MR. GUS LIVERWURST stands outside the SECOND CLASS TRAIN looking in through the back window.
INT. LIMOUSINE - EARLY EVENING
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN files her nails while her father, DR. WALTER RAVEN reads over a newspaper.
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"Alphonse Brunette."
5.
DR. WALTER RAVEN murmurs to himself as he turns over the newspaper.
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"Brunette."
MISS RAVEN uses her nail file to talk with.
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"I think I remember his name from one of the parties we threw in Pasadena."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
(mumbling)
"No, that's not it."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"What?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Darling, why don't you just focus on the money that we are going to get and stop looking at the negative things."
MISS RAVEN bursts out into laughter. DR. RAVEN begins to snicker too after a moment.
DR. WALTER RAVEN
(composing his laughter)
"Alright, alright. Easier said than done. I understand."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"It's impossible to get those other women out of my head. I want them all dead."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
(chuckling)
"We really do think death is the easier answer."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"What about a murder?"
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Hush now, there isn't enough money in the world to keep the police from digging up more than they need to during a Blackwell Grange investigation."
6.
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"I'm serious. Mrs. Peacock doesn't need to die. Her suffering is over."
DR. RAVEN shakes his head.
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Darling, no."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"If she takes the fall for a murder during the investigation of Senator Peacock's murder... she's going to spend the rest of her life in jail."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Olivia, that's enough. It's complete nonsense. We don't do things like that."
DR. RAVEN and MISS RAVEN both become aware of there extremely quiet chauffeur.
MISS RAVEN lowers her voice.
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
"Once we get to Blackwell Grange, we'll talk more about this."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"There isn't anything more to talk about. We aren't killing anyone for any reason."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
(winking; pretending)
"Right... no murders. I understand. We don't do that. We are good people."
(whispering)
"We'll talk at Blackwell Grange."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"I'm serious, young lady."
MISS OLIVIA RAVEN
(winking)
"Of course."
DR. WALTER RAVEN
"Olivia. No one is going to die this weekend.
7.
DR. WALTER RAVEN (CONT'D)
Everything is going to be fine. We are all going to be civil."
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - CELLAR - CONTINUOUS
MR. THALLO GREEN pulls up his pants and fastens his belt. FRAU OLGA BLOOM, still bent over a wine barrel, smokes one of his cigars.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"It's been a long time, Olga."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"You're dressing better these days."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"Mr. O'Range and I are stronger than ever. I can afford it."
FRAU BLOOM blows cigar smoke towards MR. GREEN.
MR. THALLO GREEN
”Hugh treating you right?”
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"The pay could be better."
8.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"He isn't giving you any trouble, is he?"
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"He is easy to please. The more exotic the meal is, the happier he is."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"Heard anything strange around here?"
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"Anything specific?"
MR. THALLO GREEN
"How's Mrs. White doing? I worry about her."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"Mrs. White has been a pain in the ass. She hadn't smiled in weeks until you showed up."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"She can be a real bitch from time to time. You just have to put in the time to listen to her nonsense and let her tire herself out."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"No one has the patience for that."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"I guess that's my strong suit. My abundant patience."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"A weak suit in business?"
MR. THALLO GREEN
"Mr. O'Range says I'm too compassionate. Know how I've been responding to that? But coldly shooting every single person who inconveniences me."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"You've been killing again?"
9.
MR. THALLO GREEN
"Not for fun. Not random people. They are always trash that deserved it. Druggies, drunks, and degenerates that make false promises or build up debts."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"I'm glad you've made peace in becoming a god."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"I don't make the choice whether they live or die. Their own choices lead them to the moment where they are on their knees before me."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"But you are the one pulling the trigger."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"I don't have to explain myself to you."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"I never asked you to."
MR. GREEN is silent. FRAU BLOOM stands up and begins to make her way to the bottom of the CELLAR STAIRS.
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
(shrugging)
"You always over-explain yourself. You don't need to justify what it is you are doing. I don't care what you do, Thallo. Just stay safe and take care of yourself."
MR. THALLO GREEN
"It's not that I need to justify my actions for myself... it's so the rest of you don't think I'm a goddamn psychopath."
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"I'm going to say something and there is a chance you are going to get upset."
MR. THALLO GREEN
(stiff-lipped)
"Say it."
10.
FRAU OLGA BLOOM
"People don't think about you. People don't care about what you turn out to be. All they care is that you get to them with the drugs, liquor, or money they want."
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - CRYPT - EVENING
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM rolls a large square MACHINE across the stone floor of the crypt.
The MACHINE has buttons, bulbs, switches, and dials all over the front of it.
NURSE AVA SILVER stands on the last step of the staircase, looking at the CRYPT below her. Her heart is racing. She tentatively takes that final step as the squeaking of the wheels beneath the MACHINE stop.
PROF. PLUM stops the machine beside BEN BLACK the 5th - who is strapped to a rolling surgical bed.
BEN BLACK
"Please, stop. You said no more electricity. Please, no more."
NURSE SILVER's eyes widen.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"I'm not so sure that you are going to cooperate for the needle..."
11.
PROF. PLUM slowly puts on a pair of rubber gloves and then holds up a long SYRINGE full of grayish-cyan fluid.
BEN BLACK
"I'll cooperate! No more electricity"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"This needle doesn't even need to penetrate your skin. I just need a precise droplet to touch your skin."
NURSE SILVER puts on a pair of rubber gloves.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"I still don't know if you can stay still... we might have to use the electricity..."
BEN BLACK begins to thrash around in his straps, which are significantly loose on the surgical table than inside the coffin.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Look at you, if we were starting right now, there's no telling where that droplet would land."
NURSE SILVER cautiously approaches PROF. PLUM.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"I'll administer it to him."
BEN BLACK
(calming down)
"Please. Please. Please."
PROF. PLUM hands NURSE SILVER the SYRINGE and leans over BEN BLACK with a smile. He speaks to BEN BLACK inches from his face.
BEn BLACK
"What is it going to do to me?"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"One drop leaves you paralyzed and conscious."
NURSE SILVER begins to position the SYRINGE near BEN BLACK's arm.
12.
BEN BLACK
"I'll wake up, right? I'll still wake up?"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Two drops leaves you are unconscious short term."
BEN BLACK
"Please, don't kill me. Please, don't kill me. I want to live."
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Three drops leaves you in a long term coma."
NURSE AVA SILVER
(nervously)
"Let's just get started."
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
(continuing)
"Four drops will kill you. There is no question."
BEN BLACK closes his eyes and begins to cry. PROF. PLUM runs his fingers through his half-brother's hair.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"You have to stay perfectly still, Ben."
BEN BLACK holds his breath, nodding for NURSE SILVER to start.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"I'm so sorry..."
NURSE SILVER slowly puts pressure on the plunger of the SYRINGE. A small droplet of cyan liquid forms out of the tip of the needle. It hangs off the needle's point for a moment and drops down to the bare, exposed flesh of BEN BLACK's arm.
The liquid hisses, fizzes, bubbles, and burns on BEN BLACK's arm.
BEN BLACK screams in agony, writhing and thrashing his arms around. The straps on his legs become very loose.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
(impatiently)
"Inject him."
13.
NURSE AVA SILVER
(arguing)
"I can't measure, I'll give him too much."
BEN BLACK pulls his arms out of the straps and grabs PROF. PLUM by the shoulders.
NURSE SILVER screams and tosses the SYRINGE of lethal fluid away from the scuffle.
BEN BLACK and PROF. PLUM fall to the stone floor as the surgical bed flips over on it's side.
BEN BLACK growls and screams as he claws and scratches PROF. PLUM's shoulders with his vice-like grip.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
(in pain)
"Get him off of me! Inject him!"
BEN BLACK gains his balance and uses the adrenaline of his pain to body-slam PROF. PLUM into the wall of the CRYPT.
PROF. PLUM drops to the ground in a slump. BEN BLACK rushes to the stone stairs and scrambles up them.
BEN BLACK
"I'm free. I'm finally free."
NURSE SILVER rushes over to PROF. PLUM and helps him sit up. PROF. PLUM throws up beside the two of them.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Did you inject him?"
PROF. PLUM looks around and sees that BEN BLACK is not inside the CRYPT.
NURSE SILVER begins shaking nervously as her eyes fill up with tears.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"I didn't know what to do. I'm sorry. He was attacking you..."
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"You should have stabbed him in the back with that needle and inject the whole fucking tube into him. Jesus Christ... he's out there... the guests are arriving any minute..."
14.
PROF. PLUM looks over at the SYRINGE in the corner with anger in his eyes. NURSE SILVER is shaking, scared, and ashamed.
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - MASTER BEDROOM - CONTINUOUS
DR. HUGH BLACK stands at the foot of the large canopy bed. He is wearing a long black robe with burgundy accents. In one hand, he holds a glass of brandy.
DR. BLACK sips the brandy as he patiently waits, with lust in his eyes.
There is a knock at the bedroom door. MISS BRENDA DOVE opens the door and enters the room with a furrowed brow. She is holding her arms tightly against her body.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"The guests will be here soon."
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Yes."
(pause)
"We will first see them in the dining room just before dinner, right?"
DR. HUGH BLACK
(sipping the brandy)
"Yes, as we've discussed."
MISS DOVE fiddles with her engagement ring anxiously.
DR. BLACK slowly sits back on the foot of his bed, finishing the glass of brandy. He firmly tosses the glass at the fireplace's mantel. It shatters. MISS DOVE jumps in fright.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"I'll have Yvette sweep that up later."
MISS DOVE looks at the fireplace and the broken, sticky glass shards with a newfound sense of fear - the prison around her and the debt she has inevitable avoided.
15.
MISS DOVE looks at DR. BLACK with tears in her eyes. She is raw, open, vulnerable, shaky, and visibly scared of her fiance.
DR. BLACK pats the bed beside him.
DR. HUGH BLACK
(softly)
"Come and sit down."
MISS DOVE finds herself moving towards the bed. DR. BLACK's eyes never leave her eyes as she approaches him.
MISS DOVE sits down on the bed beside him. The smell of brandy on his breath is strong.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"Hugh, I don't think..."
DR. BLACK places his rough, warm finger against her lips and begins to shush her over and over again.
DR. HUGH BLACK
(deeply)
"Shh. Shh. Shh."
DR. BLACK begins to stroke her back, moving towards her neck.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"No, Hugh. No, I can't."
MISS DOVE tenses up and begins to stand up from the bed. As she does-
DR. BLACK grabs the back of her neck firmly, forcing her to her feet. He pushes her forward, releasing her. MISS DOVE trips and falls to her knees. She looks back at DR. BLACK in fear, seeing the lust and anger in his eyes.
DR. BLACK opens up his robe to reveal his naked body to her.
MISS DOVE turns her eyes away as quickly as she can. Her eyes fill up with tears, fearing what is going to happen next.
Quickly, MISS DOVE scrambles from her knees to stand up on her feet, slipping and struggling to stand up due to the fabric of her gown. She feels the shadow of DR. BLACK creeping over her.
MISS DOVE pulls herself up and immediately rushes towards the door of the MASTER BEDROOM. She opens the double doors and rushes out into the hallway.
DR. BLACK stands in his bed, dropping his robe to the floor.
16.
DR. HUGH BLACK
"Your tricks and games aren't deceiving me any more."
DR. BLACK closes his bedroom door and locks it. He walks, stark naked, to the tall wardrobe. He opens it and selects an expensive black suit, a dark gray shirt, diamond cuffs, and alligator shoes.
As DR. BLACK gets dressed, he begins to hum to himself. His humming grows louder and more vibrant. He parts his lips and his humming turns to singing - vocalizing... which grows louder and louder until he is screaming at the top of his voice. Suddenly-
DR. BLACK stops. He stands in silence, his ears ringing and his face flushed. He exhales slowly and combs his silver-white hair with his hand.
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - UPSTAIRS HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
MISS DOVE rushes down the long, carpeted hallway, crying and gasping for breath. She stops and slides down the length of a wall to the floor, hyperventilating and breathing erratically.
MISS DOVE pulls her knees to her chest and hugs them tightly.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
(to herself)
"I can't do this. I can't do this. I can't do this anymore. Why did you send me here?"
YVETTE comes around the corner of the UPSTAIRS HALLWAY.
17.
YVETTE
"Pardon."
YVETTE holds out a cloth handkerchief for MISS DOVE.
MISS DOVE looks up at the young blonde girl. She reaches for the handkerchief and takes it, with YVETTE's hand. YVETTE is shocked that MISS DOVE is holding her hand so tightly and for so long.
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"You need to get away from this place. No one belongs here."
YVETTE
"Miss Dove, there's a man lurking outside by the Crypts. He told me deliver a message to Colonel Mustard."
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"He found Fivel too."
YVETTE
"What does he want?"
MISS BRENDA DOVE
"He wants Dr. Black to pay for his sins."
INT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - LOUNGE - CONTINUOUS
Rain patters loudly against the windows and veranda doors.
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD pours himself a glass of champagne from a smoking, freshly opened bottle. He samples the champagne and precedes to pop another bottle. He pours a pink-tinted champagne into a new glass.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE enters the room and sees what he is doing. She is not pleased.
18.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"What the hell are you doing?"
COlonel michael mustard
"Sampling the champagne. This one is far too sweet."
COL. MUSTARD turns back to the first bottle and tastes it. He then grabs the second bottle and tries it again. MRS. WHITE watches with burning anger as he begins to alternate the bottles back and forth.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Stop drinking. Put those down. I'm going to send Yvette down to the cellar for two more bottles. Don't you dare touch them. Yvette will serve the guests. You will get your liquor from either Yvette or Mr. Ash. You will not serve yourself."
COLONEL MUSTARD puts both, well-depleted champagne bottles on the small wet bar behind the sofa.
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
(drunk)
"You're going to watch the fight?"
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
(agitated)
"Fight? There will be no fight. You have had way too much to drink and everyone will be able to see that once they arrive."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
(laughing)
"Patricia and Miss Dove. They're going to be at each other's throats."
19.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"Oh, for god's sake. We don't need you poking the bear."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"I won't say a word. But I'll watch, listen, and enjoy every single minute of it."
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
"I'll be watching you carefully, Michael Mustard!"
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"I can take care of myself."
The LOUNGE door opens and a tall, handsome man in a gray collar and suit coat enters the room. He is SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY.
MRS. WHITE's anger is melted away as SGT. GRAY enters the room.
SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY
"The rain should keep everyone from lingering around the grounds... at least for tonight, that is."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
(slurring)
"Sergeant Gray, it is a pleasure to see you."
SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY
(chuckling)
"Colonel, I see you've already started the party."
COLONEL MICHAEL MUSTARD
"Join us, won't you?"
20.
SERGEANT BENJAMIN GRAY
"I really mustn't. Dr. Black would be upset if I didn't make sure his precious curios stay unfondled."
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
(pleasantly)
"Oh, Benjamin, you know Dr. Black only asked you here as a formality. You are expected to enjoy yourself. Please, have some champagne. I hear the pink one is rather sweet."
SGT. GRAY smiles as COL. MUSTARD pours him a glass of pink champagne. COL. MUSTARD quickly pours two more glasses, offering one to MRS. WHITE.
MRS. WHITE takes the champagne glass, locking eyes with COL. MUSTARD.
MRS. BLANCHE WHITE
(raising her glass)
"To good friends, stronger than family."
EXT. BLACKWELL GRANGE - FOREST - CONTINUOUS
PROF. PLUM and NURSE SILVER walk through the foggy, rainy woods following the puddles of footprints they aren't sure they can even see anymore.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"Victor, what do we do? We can't find him?"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"We can't leave him out here?"
NURSE AVA SILVER
"We can't keep looking, people will wonder where we are. I have to be there in case Miss Dove needs me for Fivel."
21.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Then go! I can find him myself."
NURSE SILVER looks back at BLACKWELL GRANGE through the trees.
NURSE AVA SILVER
"You really think he can be saved, don't you?"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Don't you?"
NURSE AVA SILVER
"Victor... Please, just come inside."
PROF. PLUM looks deep into the woods.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
(shouting)
"Ben!"
NURSE AVA SILVER
"Victor, stop. We need to go."
NURSE SILVER reaches out for PROF. PLUM's hand.
PROF. PLUM yanks his hand away from her as soon as he feels her.
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"I'm going to find him."
NURSE AVA SILVER
"Dammit, Victor, what do I tell Dr. Black?"
PROFESSOR VICTOR PLUM
"Nothing. I'll talk to him when I bring Ben back."
NURSE SILVER turns and heads back towards BLACKWELL GRANGE.
PROF. PLUM walks deeper and deeper into the forest.
EXT. FIRST CLASS TRAIN - CONTINUOUS
MR. CLAY steps out onto the back of the First Class Train to see MR. LIVERWURST at the window of the Second Class Train.
MR. LIVERWURST slowly steps out onto the back of the train.
22.
MR. GUS lIVERWURST
(taunting)
"Did you stop because of me? I'm sure you could have eaten your whore's front while I took her ass..."
MR. CLAY punches MR. LIVERWURST square in the jaw.
MR. EDWARD CLAY
"Shut up. You are a crass, disgusting pig. Fuck you and the brain-dead family that raised you to speak that way."
MR. LIVERWURST grabs MR. CLAY and tries to force him off the side of the train.
MR. CLAY braces his legs on the railing and elbows MR. LIVERWURST in the face several times.
MISS SCARLET appears at the First Class window.
MISS VIVIENNE SCARLET
"Edward!"
MISS SCARLET opens the door and begins to hit, punch, and scratch at MR. LIVERWURST until he releases his grip on MR. CLAY. MR. CLAY regains his balance and puts his arm protectively in front of MISS SCARLET.
MR. LIVERWURST wobbles back and forth, bleeding from both nostrils. He yells in anguish and lunges forward at both of them. Suddenly-
23.
The train curves sharply around a mountain through a tunnel.
MR. LIVERWURST loses his balance and slips. His left leg slides between the two train cars and he falls sideways on the metal coupling.
MISS SCARLET and MR. CLAY watch in horror as-
MR. LIVERWURST is unable to free his legs, grab anything, or support the weight of his back. His head and chest to SMACK repeatedly against the wood and metal railroad tracks and gravel terrain.
